As a little child I spent my days either singing duets with my sister out of our bedroom window or playing the piano whenever I had a free moment. I was a rather quiet girl with a tendency to always search for a deeper meaning in life, and so music provided me with a perfect outlet for expressing myself. Over the years I continued to pour my heart into this first love through song-writing and performing, studying at The London College of Music and eventually building a career as a musician.
I never would have imagined back then, that today I would be spending my days surrounded by sparkling jewels and crystals, waking up in the morning to design and create tiaras and jewellery! As that little girl, I'd often dreamed of becoming an airhostess...a star of musical theatre...a hairdresser...a pop star...a storyteller on Jackanory, but it was quite an unexpected discovery to find a hidden talent in design.
My philosophical nature has lead me to many interesting and rewarding avenues so far in my life including, in my late teens, a curiosity about gemstone crystals and their renowned healing properties. I began slowly collecting beautiful clusters of quartz crystals, deep amethysts and soft pale pink rose quartz gemstones plus many, many more. It wasn't until a close friend of mine was engaged to be married, that my life as I know it now...started to take shape.
Bride-to-be Charlie had been searching to find something that little bit different and special for her wedding jewellery, but having found nothing that inspired her, she quite out-of-the-blue asked me if I would help. I can only assume she believed that considering I was 'arty', also gave me the gift of all things creative! Feeling adventurous I agreed to give it a try and soon my new muse was flowing with sketches and ideas that perfectly matched Charlie's vibrant red-themed Christmas wedding.
A short while later whilst on a quiet boating holiday on the Thames, I began piecing together the foundations of my first tiara. Experimenting with a selection of jewels I made one side in glass crystals and the other in clear quartz gemstones. Approaching Charlie, I asked her which stones she preferred, and without hesitation she chose the gemstones. I was delighted! That old passion of mine...crystal gemstones...had found a new home.
Since that day my world has been transformed. I started by spending my late evenings after work, sitting on the sofa in a small shared flat, sketching ideas and making jewellery, with my expanding collection of tiaras and jewellery overflowing out of a spare wardrobe! The growing interest in my designs has lead to pieces appearing in a variety of fashion shoots and magazines, with commissions for luxurious and unique designs coming from brides-to-be to celebrities including Natalie Imbruglia.
Today, thanks to such great support from my loved ones, especially the man in my life, Ian, I am working from a beautiful studio, happier than ever before and enjoying dedicating my time to creating something uniquely special for each individual client that has been inspired by my designs.
